Stonefly Swap Entry






I signed up to participate in a Stonefly swap on Utahonthefly. I decided to experiment a little at the vise tonight. Here's the result.

    Great looking stone fly nymph. What material did you make the legs out of.

    Thanks Carl,

    The legs are just two strands of sili legs tied together with an overhand knot. I tie the leg in and then snip off one of the tag-ends.

    That is a nice looking fly - what is the wing case material?

    Thanks Anthony. The wing case is skinny skin form Montana Fly Company (same as thin skin). I think something like speckled brown. This was just my prototype. I'll post a picture of the final fly and recipe soon. I got some great feed-back and made a few tweeks that really helped.

    Maybe we can work something out. But with 30-45 minutes per fly, that check better have gold lettering!
